Mission 22 is named after a horrible statistic—that 22 veterans commit suicide every day in the U.S., often in their own homes. This is a real war being waged far from the field of battle, and so CP+B enlisted Tristan Patterons to capture war photographer David Guttenfelder’s process of taking photos of the homes where veterans died. Mission 22’s goal is to both raise awareness of the issue and to give veterans an idea of where to get help—with a list of vetted organizations on the website.
