In just a few years, Miles Jay has quickly become one of the freshest and most celebrated young commercial and music video directors. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Miles grew up in a filmmaking family and found that he had a natural ability for storytelling. Taking pride in presenting pure, human stories in a stunningly cinematic lens, Miles’ films evoke a genuine sense of awe, while always rooted in a strong sense of reality.
Miles is a director who is comfortable telling stores and conveying emotion through his work in all mediums. While his talent is a natural fit for traditional cinematic filmmaking, Miles relishes telling stories in the interactive world and has an inherent understanding, passion, and interest in non-traditional story.
Miles’ work has accumulated numerous accolades including The One Show Film Festival, The Webby Awards, the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase, Ciclope, the D&AD’s, and The Toronto International Film Festival, to name a few. In July 2015, Miles was recognized at The Young Directors Awards, winning first prize in the Broadcast NA category, with Blanket – Bedtime for World Vision and second prize in Short Film NA with his short film, The Statistical Analysis of Your Failing Relationship. The short film also won the Jury Award at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. January 2015 brought the release of Miles’ beautiful, powerful, poignant and arrestingly meditative music video for the Leon Bridges hit River.
Miles thrives while working in a collaborative environment, and loves building ideas from the ground up. He’s currently living in Brooklyn, New York.
