Benji Weinstein

After kicking off a career as a music video director for indie bands, Benji Weinstein’s unique comedic voice quickly vaulted him into the top echelons of the advertising world. Collaborating with top agencies across the world, Benji honed his signature approach to filmmaking, exploring the humor within moments of humanity, and offbeat situations. He’s directed spots for such clients as Staples, Subaru, Burger King, Expedia, Spring, FedEx, and VW. His breakout spots for Mi0 water flavoring showcased his smart casting choices and strong storytelling prowess. He commanded the attention of audiences around the globe with spots like Devondale’s ‘Mr. Vanderhoof’ (DDB Melbourne) and Mentos (BBH London). 

Weinstein’s work has garnered praise at Cannes, AICP, and The One Show, along with being profiled as one of Creativity’s Top 20 New Directors. Most recently, his work includes spots for Diet Dr. Pepper (Deutsch), REI (Venables Bell & Partners), Lowes (BBDO New York), StubHub (Duncan/Channon), Experian (The Martin Agency), Xfinity (Goodby Silverstein), Penske (The Martin Agency), and AutoZone (Palm + Havas). Benji took The One Show by storm in 2016 with his REI “#OptOutside” campaign, winning the Gold Pencil for Best in Show, along with Gold Pencils in six other categories, three Silver Pencils, and one shortlist mention, all in addition to two Wood Pencils and the D&AD Awards. 

In early 2018, Weinstein directed Lampton Legend for Nissan, a spot that created its own folklore to showcase Nissan’s superior driving technology.  Later in the year, Weinstein directed a robust campaign for Credit Karma, highlighting the comedic propensity of terrible roommates.
