Biography
Dutch director Judith Veenendaal grew up in a deeply creative household as the daughter of a jazz musician and a sculptor. She began her filmmaking journey at The Hague’s Royal Academy of Art, exploring storytelling through film, photography, and the performing arts. With an instinctive grasp of light, composition, and the surreal, Judith crafts films that are visually striking, emotionally resonant, and deeply poetic.
Judith has directed acclaimed work for brands including Amazon Music, BBC, Hyundai, Under Armour, UNICEF, and Lincoln, bringing a refined cinematic sensibility to every project.
Her accolades include a Cannes Young Director Award, Creative Circle’s Best Commercial Director Award, and multiple Vimeo Staff Picks. Her music video for Yseult’s “Noir” was recognized at Ciclope and won Best Music Video at the Netherlands Film Festival. Most recently, Judith’s powerful short film that centered on breast cancer awareness was licensed by a major global brand and aired during the 2025 Grammy Awards broadcast, bringing the film and its message to millions of viewers worldwide. In 2026, the long form version of the same project became the launch point for Judith’s breast cancer awareness nonprofit. The film went on to win Gold at the 1.4 Awards and has been shortlisted at Cannes.
