Biography

Fenn O’Meally is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer, renowned for imbuing her work with elegance and tender, unguarded emotion. Born in Birmingham, England of Jamaican heritage, O’Meally brings a deep love for sharing raw and honest anecdotes of human life to everything she creates within the worlds of music, creative culture and fashion.

With a background in documentary filmmaking, radio journalism and dance, O’Meally’s visual language is richly textured, leaning on her early love of movement and music. As a writer and director, her work is nuanced, observational and emotionally resonant, always grounded in authenticity. She brings an effortless style and a relentless focus on craft to every project, creating cinematic worlds filled with pitch-perfect performances and a palpable sense of discovery.

In advertising, O’Meally has directed campaigns for some of the world’s leading brands, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Prada, Burberry, BYREDO, Apple, WhatsApp and Nike. Among her standout work is the ambitious and beautifully observed short film “Generational Queens” for Amazon Music and Droga5, created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop and honouring the rich female influence on the genre. She’s also collaborated with major talent across the worlds of fashion and music – from Kendrick Lamar (The Big Steppers Tour) and Snoop Dogg, to Jorja Smith, Letitia Wright, Spike Lee, Sampha, and Alicia Keys (Moncler Genius). Her editorial photography includes work for Citizen (featuring Goldie), i-D (featuring Llainwire), PLAYERS inaugural issue (Jerry Lorenzo) and Simone Rocha.

In addition to her accolades at the CICLOPE Festival, 1.4 Awards, UKMVAs, AICP Awards, and shots EMEA, O’Meally is a Young Guns 18 winner for film, a competition organized by The One Club. She was also named Director to Watch at the Ad Age Creativity Awards and a Director of the Year finalist at The One Show.

O’Meally has emerged as a standout talent, bringing a fresh, dynamic and original voice to the world of film, fashion, music videos, and advertising.  She is representative of the next generation of filmmakers fluent across mediums creating work that influences larger culture.
