Biography

Miles Jay has that rare, original, and distinctive voice that leans into truth with everything he does. A natural storyteller with a sharp eye for performance, he presents pure, human stories told through a stunningly cinematic lens. His work is as entertaining as it is affecting, evoking a genuine sense of awe while always staying rooted in a strong sense of reality.

Known for his relentless focus on craft and otherworldly sensitivity, Jay has collaborated with some of the world’s most recognizable brands, agencies and artists, consistently turning bold concepts into enduring cinematic worlds. A three-time DGA Award nominee, Jay’s films are widely regarded as benchmarks in commercial filmmaking, earning top honors at international film festivals and advertising award shows, including Cannes Lions, the Clios, AICP, The One Show, Saatchi & Saatchi, the Webby Awards, CICLOPE and D&AD, among others.

His launch campaign for OpenAI garnered universal acclaim, winning Ad Age’s Campaign of the Year and redefining the strategy for a new era of AI powered companies. Leaning into intimacy and authenticity, the cinematic one-take films “Pull Up”, “Dish” and “Trip” capture textured, slice-of-life moments sparked by everyday ChatGPT prompts, shifting the storytelling from AI to humanity, and from capability to lived experience. His “Secret Santa” and “Home for the Holidays” films for Meta with Droga5 further demonstrate his ability to ground technology in emotional resonance. As the brand’s first campaign in four years, the films capture the platform’s original magic, reintroducing Facebook as a living archive of relationships, memory and community, casting it as a practical tool for real-world connections.

Other notable work includes Jay’s Squarespace x John Malkovich films, a surreal, sharply self-aware campaign that garnered an Emmy for Outstanding Commercial alongside Cannes Lions and Clio Awards. His Daniel Craig vs. James Bond film for Heineken 007, hailed by Fast Company as “easily the best commercial of their eight-film, 23-year dance,” demonstrated his rare ability to intuit character, while his moving and provocative “Smile” music video for Jay-Z earned the Entertainment Grand Prix at Cannes Lions, the SXSW Best Music Video Jury Award and multiple honours from AICP and The Webby Awards. That same emotional clarity and trust in the audience runs through his work, from the visceral exploration of sound in “Alive” for Bose to the meditative, atmospheric music video for Leon Bridges’ “River” and his acclaimed portrait of Fletcher Cleaves for AT&T and ESPN CreativeWorks, which earned recognition from CICLOPE, Clios, D&AD, The One Show, Cannes, DGA, AICP and the British Arrows.

A master visual storyteller whose work evokes the feeling of a wise soul, Jay firmly stands in an elite class of filmmakers. His unwavering commitment to explore profound truths drives each project, as he pushes the boundaries of form and narrative with films that feel deeply lived-in, emotionally resonant and timeless in their humanity.
